By the old Pine Grove Town Hall on 88 you’re into real pine country. The air is sharper, and some winters there’s snow on the shoulder that never made it down to Plymouth. Lights up here have to handle that. Our Pine Grove Christmas light installation is set up for cold, wind, and the occasional storm, and we’d much rather do it before the first real freeze than after. Call (209) 444-1844 to get on the list.

Pine Grove Christmas light installation up the hill on Highway 88

At around 2,500 feet, Pine Grove sits in that in-between zone. It’s not the high country, but it isn’t the valley either. December brings frosty mornings, cold rain, and every few years a snow that sticks around for a day or two. That affects everything from how we clip the roofline to where the timers go.

A few things we do differently up here:

    • On metal roofs, snow slides. Lights hung right at the drip edge can get peeled off by a sheet of it, so we mount along the fascia instead.
    • Outlets on the outside of the house get covered, and timers go somewhere sheltered from the weather.
    • Clips are snugged tight. Wind comes up the canyons and rattles anything loose.

Irishtown, Clinton and the roads off 88

Pine Grove isn’t laid out in blocks. Neighborhoods here grew up along the roads, and each one has its own feel.

Along Ridge Road you get a lot of homes set back in the trees, with long driveways and a view of not much but pines. That’s prime stake lighting territory. A lit drive is how anybody finds you after dark, and it’s what you’ll be glad to see pulling in on a black December night.

The homes off Climax Road come in every shape: single-story places you can outline in an afternoon and two-story houses that take taller ladders and more planning. That planning is exactly the part you’re hiring us for. We figure out where the power is, how many runs it takes, and which dry corner of the porch gets the timer, all before a single clip goes up.

Off Pine Grove-Volcano Road, heading toward Indian Grinding Rock and on to Volcano, the trees get thick and the homes get tucked into the hillside. Irishtown and Clinton were mining camps of their own before they became part of Pine Grove, and the homes out along Irishtown Road and Clinton Road are spread out on rolling ground, so the gate and the drive matter as much as the house. Down Tabeaud Road toward the lake, it’s rural and roomy. Out there a simple roofline outline and a lit wreath on the gate are plenty, and nobody needs the whole property lit to make it feel like Christmas when you come home.

What goes up on a Pine Grove house

Roofline lights following the gutters and eaves and climbing each peak and gable, held with clips (not nails or staples) that won’t hurt shingles or trim. Tree wraps on trunks and branches. Oaks and cedars wrap nicely. For tall ponderosas we light the trunk and lower limbs and leave the rest. Pillar and column wraps for the posts holding up that covered porch. Stake lighting along walks, driveways, and lawn edges, kept away from any sprinkler heads or drip lines. Lit wreaths and lit garland on doors, railings, banisters, and archways. If big trees are the star of your yard, our tree wrapping page has more detail.

We bring every strand. You don’t have to buy anything or stand on a frosty ladder.

    Questions we hear up here

Will the lights hold up in snow?

They’re made for outdoor use and rated for wet weather, and we mount them with that in mind. A light dusting is no problem. If a heavy storm does knock something loose, call (209) 444-1844 and we’ll come put it right.

Do you come back to take them down?

Yes. In January we return and pull everything off the house and trees. Nothing sits on your roof through the rest of winter, and you’ve got no bins to stash in the garage.

Can the lights run on a timer?

They can, and most people want that. Yours flip on as it gets dark and shut off at whatever hour suits you. No trudging out in the cold to plug anything in.

How far out do you go?

We cover Pine Grove and the roads around it, plus Pioneer up the hill, where the pines get taller and the snow comes more often, and Volcano, where the old stone buildings downtown take garland better than roofline. We’re up and down 88 all season, between here and Jackson, so the trip up the hill is routine for us.
