There isn’t much front yard at The Retreats, and that’s by design. The lots run small, the association handles the landscaping, and what faces the street is mostly tile roof and a covered veranda. So The Retreats Christmas light installation comes down to doing a few things very neatly instead of a lot of things loosely. That happens to be how Xmas Light Brothers likes to work.

The Retreats, its own association, and Christmas lights

People assume The Retreats Christmas light installation follows Rancho Murieta Association rules, since the neighborhood sits behind the North Gate with everybody else. It has its own: Rancho North Association, a separate HOA managed by Landmark Limited out of Roseville. Its documents aren’t posted publicly, and we couldn’t confirm whether the wider community’s decorative light rule reaches in here. So we won’t quote you any dates. Ask Rancho North or check your owner documents for the current display period. What the last public copy of the RMA rules says is on our Rancho Murieta HOA lighting page.

Once you know your dates, call (209) 444-1844 and we handle the rest. The install gets scheduled inside the allowed period. The takedown happens in January, on time, with every clip removed. Cords run tight along trim lines, and a timer shuts things off late in the evening so nothing glows all night onto the house next door.

Where the lights go on a Retreats home

These are newer houses, built roughly between 2017 and 2024 along Retreats Trail Court, Via Bernini and Via Ghiberti. Mostly single-story, Spanish and contemporary styles, some backing onto the 11th fairway of the Rancho Murieta North Course.

Roofline. This is the main event. Roofline lights get clipped to the gutter or fascia from a ladder, and we stay off the tile altogether. No staples, no nails, no holes in the house. On a small lot every corner is close to the street, so we take our time squaring the turns.

The veranda. Where a covered veranda has posts and a beam, we’ve got something to work with. Pillar wraps on the posts, lit garland along the beam or around the front door, and a lit wreath centered on the entry or the garage. Our wreath hanging page shows what goes over a garage. On a small frontage those three pieces do more than you’d expect.

The ground. A short row of stake lighting along your walk or the edge of the driveway is usually plenty. We keep stakes on your side of the line and out of beds the association maintains.

Trees. Tree wraps are fine on a tree that’s yours. The oaks and plantings in the greenbelt and common areas belong to the association, so we leave those alone unless the board brings us in for them.

Gate, photos and a phone call

You’re behind the North Gate, so both of our trips, hanging and removing, need a spot on your guest list. Before that, the quote: you text or email us front and back pictures, or drop them on the contact page, and we talk it over on a call. Dial (209) 444-1844 and have the photos handy.

We supply all the lights, and if something goes out mid-season you call (209) 444-1844 and we come fix it. We’re down from Plymouth all season, and our other page covers Christmas lights elsewhere in Rancho Murieta.

    Fairway side and iron fences

If your back patio looks out on the North Course through an iron fence, your back wall is in plain view of the fairway. We can carry the roofline around to the patio side so it reads from the course and from the neighbors across the way. It’s your call. Photograph both sides of the house and we’ll talk through each.

    The Retreats questions we get

    Which HOA covers The Retreats?

Rancho North Association, which is separate from the Rancho Murieta Association. Its rules aren’t public, so confirm the holiday display period with the association or in your owner documents.

Which gate do you use for The Retreats?

The North Gate. Put us on your guest list for hanging day and again for the January removal.

Can you put lights on the trees along the greenbelt behind my house?

Not on our own. Common-area trees and landscaping belong to the association, so we light only what’s on your lot unless the association hires us for the rest.

My lot is small. Is it worth hiring someone?

Small frontages show every flaw from the street. A level roofline, wrapped veranda posts and a lit wreath, all on a timer, look finished without much else.
